Moldova's banking system ensures continuity of providing of services on period of COVID-19, in citizens' interests

Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/ - The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) imposes a string of measures due to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus and further ensure the functionality of the country’s financial and banking  system.   

The BNM press service said that the measures were necessary, in order to protect the health of the banks’ employees and their clients, so that the latter benefit from the demanded services uninterruptedly. In this respect, BNM urges the citizens to strictly observe the bahaviour and hygiene rules, and if the physical presence is not compulsory, decision-makers recommend the use of distance service systems, non-cash instruments and payment services, such as internet-payments applications, mobile payments, payment cards, credit transfer (payment order), which allow making payments from any computer or mobile device.   

Also, in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the National Bank took enhanced protection measures, in accordance with the recommendations by the World Health Organization and the National Extraordinary Public Health Commission.  The critical operational processes and the continuity of the institution’s work will be ensured during all this period. At the same time, the process of distance work was launched for more categories of employees.   

The National Bank, licenced banks and the non-bank providers of payment services will continue their activity by ensuring all financial services provided. At the same time, more banks informed about shortened or changed schedule of work for physical service of clients.
