Fourteen new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Moldova

Chisinau, 21 March /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 111 biological samples today were processed at the laboratory of the National Public Health Agency, of which 14 ones were positive. Eleven of them are of local transmission and three ones are of import, from Ukraine and France. Thus, there are 80 confirmed cases of new-type coronavirus in all. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu made statements to this effect after a today’s meeting of the single command centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.
The minister said that two cases of COVID-19, confirmed in the Transnistrian region, had been already recorded; there are other confirmed cases of coronavirus following a pilgrimage to a monastery from Ukraine.
Attending the news briefing, Prime Minister Ion Chicu asked people, especially the elderly ones, to take care of them, as well as of those by their side.
The state of emergency is declared on the entire territory of Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May 2020. During the state of emergency, the Commission for Emergency Situations issues instructions, in order to enforce more measures, which are compulsory and executory for the heads of the central and local public administration authorities, economic agents, public institutions, as well as for the citizens and other people who stay in Moldova.
