As many as 231 people sick with COVID-19 registered in Moldova

Chisinau, 28 March /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 231 biological samples today were processed at the laboratory of the National Public Health Agency, of which 32 proved to be positive. Thus, there are 231 confirmed cases of new-type coronavirus in all. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu made statements to this effect after a today’s meeting of the single command centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.
Dumbraveanu noted that two of these cases were of import and 30 – of local transmission.
Attending the meeting, Prime Minister Ion Chisinau said that he had received positive signals from representatives of the clergy from Moldova on the demand that the 29 March religious services be held without the participation of believers in them. ‘’The 29 March religious services will take place in the absence of believers. This is a measure which allows the decrease in the number of infections,’’ Ion Chicu said.
The PM showed confidence that the authorities would manage to check the epidemic: ‘’We can control the epidemic only together with you. I ask you to be orderly and observe the instructions received – stay at home on the next days!’’
The head of Moldova’s Commission for Emergency Situations, Prime Minister Ion Chicu on 26 March informed that the public sector employees would have nine days off starting from 28 March till 5 April.
