Moldovan PM chairs meeting of Commission for Emergency Situations

Chisinau, 8 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today summoned a meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE). The participants in the meeting considered the evolution of the epidemiological situation and discussed a string of measures proposed by specialists, in order to prevent the spread of the infection. They also examined the increase in the number of confirmed cases in the Soroca, Stefan Voda and Glodeni districts, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.     

The evolution of the cases confirmed and the considering of the circumstances of local transmission, along with the people’s behaviour in terms of the observance of the self-isolation demands, prompted specialists to make a string of proposals to CSE.

The participants in the meeting ruled to establish a special quarantine regime in the Soroca city, triggered by a string of aspects specific for the settlement and the region. The measures contain additional restrictions as to the movement of people, transport units, as well as a more intense patrolling regime, in order to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 infection.

The participants in the meeting ruled to establish the quarantine regime in the Talmaza settlement, Stefan Voda district. The recommendations came from medical employees.

Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu informed about the fact that the COVID-19 sorting centre would start working on 9 April 2020.
