Second edition of Sustainable Energy Prize in Eastern Partnership countries announced

Chisinau, 9 April /MOLDPRES/- The European Union has launched the second edition of the Prize for Sustainable Energy in the Eastern Partnership countries. It is part of the Sustainable Energy Week 2020, organized by the EU, which promotes energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy that directly helps citizens and communities to save energy or use eco- energy sources.
The competition is open until 17 April for citizens and companies, government institutions and local authorities, NGOs and youth organizations from one or more countries of the Eastern Partnership. The main condition is that the participating project has benefited from EU support either directly or indirectly through a partner organization.
Applications must be submitted electronically, by filling in an online form in English and Russian. Six finalists will be nominated who will be invited to Brussels to participate in the Sustainable Energy Week on 22-26 June. The winner will be announced on 23 June during a special ceremony.
Climate change, caused by global warming, is a long-term challenge for humanity, and the European Union is looking for solutions to ensure a better and healthier future for the entire planet. Energy efficiency, increasing the share of sustainable and renewable energy are part of this approach.
