Chisinau, 9 April /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 543 biological samples were processed in Moldova in the last 24 hours, of which 115 proved to be positive. Thus, there are 1,289 confirmed cases of new-type coronavirus in all. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu made statements to this effect after a today’s meeting of the single command centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.
According to the official, three out of the 115 cases are of import. ‘’Forty out of the 112 local transmission cases are from Chisinau, 14 cases in Falesti, 14 ones in Stefan Voda, ten cases on the left bank of Dniester,’’ Viorica Dumbraveanu said.
Also today, the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS) informed about the death of one person. It is about a 53-year-old woman from Soroca. She was hospitalized in serious condition at the Republican Clinical Hospital on 4 April. Thus, there are 29 deaths triggered by COVID-19.
The health minister noted that the entire medical system would be involved in the fight against COVID-19 starting from 10 April and the easy cases would be treated by family physicians at home. All Moldovan medical institutions will be activated and the Moldexpo-based sorting centre will become functional as of 10 April too.
Attending the meeting, Prime Minister Ion Chicu said that there were presently four settlements in quarantine regime in Moldova: Soroca city and Stefan Voda town and the Carahasani and Talmaza villages. He specified that, starting from today, more restrictive measures had been enforced in Soroca, meant to prevent the spread of the new-type coronavirus.
The PM informed that the Constitutional Court today suspended the law on which the government assumed responsibility, as the document was appealed by several MPs from the parliament’s opposition. Thus, the cabinet found itself in impossibility to pay the benefit to the low-income people or unemployed. Also, the government will not be able to return the taxes to the economic agents which paid the salary during the emergency state. The share for the HoReCa sector cannot be diminished too and the licence holders will also not be able to be exempted from taxes. ‘’Starting from today, the Employment Agency ceased the processing of the applications submitted by citizens. And I will summon my colleagues from the government to decide what to do in this situation,’’ Chicu said.
State of emergency was declared all over Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May, given the COVID-19 pandemic.
