Ninety four people infected with COVID-19 treated in Moldova

Chisinau, 12 April /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 1,560 cases of infection with COVID-19 continues to be recorded in Moldova so far, of which 121 are of import and 1,439 – with local transmission. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu today made statements to this effect at a news briefing.
According to Dumbraveanu, 165 people are in serious health condition; about 430 are with medium gravity. ‘’On 11 April, another 19 persons were discharged from hospital; thus, the number of cases treated reached 94,’’ Dumbraveanu said.
At an online intervention, the head of the Toma Ciorba hospital from Chisinau, Sergiu Vasilita ,said that a single employee of this hospital had been infected with COVID-19 so far. It is about an employee of the laboratory which actually collects the biological material for testings. Vasilita noted that he welcomed the authorities’ decision for the people who were treated and had negative test to be treated at home or be transferred to another institution, in order to take over new sick persons.
The heads of other hospitals which treat COVID-19 cases had reported the online the situation, the number of people ill, as well as the quantity of consumables they have.
The acting chief of the Republican Clinical Hospital (SCR), Andrei Uncuta, informed that, starting from last March, 76 patients had hospitalized, of whom 31 had been already transferred and three ones were healed. ‘’We have nine deaths on this period. At the moment, 38 patients are put in SCR; seven are at ventilation and another 11 - in serious condition. On this period, 23 patients were intubated at the intensive therapy section. We have 50 ventilators prepared. Fifteen days since the patients have been transferred to the surgical section, we have no case of physicians’ infection. Only those 17 earlier infected colleagues remain to be treated,’’ Uncuta said.
The minister informed that she had signed an order, under which the people who had been healed and received a negative test be treated at home; if they have no needed conditions, they may be transferred to other institutions, which have been already prepared.
Dumbraveanu added that 49 persons had been examined at the Moldexpo-based sorting centre, of whom 30 were hospitalized.
State of emergency is declared in Moldova on the period 17 March – 15 May 2020, given the coronavirus pandemic. More settlements from Stefan Voda, Hancesti and Soroca were placed in quarantine regime; the exits and entries in these settlements are blocked.
