Britain interested in Transnistrian conflict settlement

Chisinau, 7 May /MOLDPRES/- Today Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Cristina Lesnic had a meeting with British Ambassador to Moldova Steven Fisher, accompanied by program coordinator of the Embassy. As a first meeting between the two officials, they exchanged views on the current situation, prospects of the Berlin Plus Package, respect for human rights in the region, security situation, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
Lesnic approached the latest developments dictated by the Covid-19 pandemic, access to healthcare of Moldovan citizens from the Transnistrian region, installation of over 20 illegal posts in the Security Zone through the unilateral actions of Tiraspol defying free movement and human rights. At the same time, she said she was in dialogue with 5 + 2 format actors and partners interested in promoting human rights and she remained open to dialogue.
The sides discussed future steps in the Transnistrian conflict settlement, including in terms of possible assistance through bilateral assistance programs offered to Moldova by the British government.
In this context, Fisher expressed Britain's interest in the Transnistrian conflict settlement and security dimension.
