Romania's donation for Moldova to be exempted from customs duties, value added tax

Chisinau, 7 May /MOLDPRES/ - The National Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE) today ruled to exempt from customs duties, taxes for customs procedures and the value added tax (VAT) the donation provided by Romania to support the medical system of Moldova in the prevention and combating of COVID-19.
„The goods provided as donation for the needs of the medical and sanitary institutions from Moldova (consignee - the Timofei Mosneaga Medical and Sanitary Institution Clinical Republican Hospital), provided by Romania to Moldova for support in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic, worth 3.5 million euros, and which are to be distributed to medical and sanitary public institutions, according to the Instruction by the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, are exempted from taxes’’ the CSE decision reads.
The Commission also authorized the entrance, on 7 May, for 49 Romanian citizens through the border crossing points opened for the international traffic and temporary stay on the territory of Moldova, within the humanitarian mission provided by Romania to Moldova for support in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic.
Under the today’s Instruction by the Commission for Emergency Situations, the materials goods (gloves, disinfectants for hands and beds), provided as donation by Austria for the needs of the Interior Ministry’s General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, are exempted from taxes as well.
The Commission members today also authorized a charter flight AMSTERDAM – KIEV – CHIȘINĂU, operated by the Titan Airways company, for 8 May, for the repatriation of Moldova’s citizens.
On the emergency state period (17 March – 15 May 2020), the instructions of the Commissions for Emergency Situations are compulsory and executory for the leaders of the central and local public administration authorities, of economic agents, public institutions, as well as for the citizens and other people staying in Moldova.
