Chisinau, 11 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today chaired a meeting on considering mechanisms of res-scheduling the loans provided by commercial banks and non-bank institutions, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) informed about the fact that the commercial banks were res-scheduling the credits provided to legal entities and private people. The procedure of loans’ rescheduling will be able to be carried out till 30 June 2020. The procedure’s accessibility is proved by the large number of debtors who enforced it.

The national regulator expects that the effects of the economic crisis triggered by the restrictions imposed for the management of the epidemiological situation will be felt in the banking system in next July and August. The participants in the meeting noted that the measures of loans’ re-scheduling must be undertaken so that they do not prompt the appearance of problems of liquidity and capital in the banking sector.

The National Commission for Financial Market (CNPF) informed about the increase in the rate of credits’ rescheduling in the sector of non-bank financing institutions, where about 11 per cent of the contracts were renegotiated. CNPF works to elaborate a draft law meant to provide a level of protection to debtors private people, who borrowed loans and have difficulties with the reimbursement.

The participants in the meeting discussed mechanisms of subsidizing the interest on the loans provided by commercial banks and possibility of their application on the non-bank financial institutions.
