Moldovan parliament ratifies Moldova-Belarus agreement on social security

Chisinau, 18 June /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament, at a today’s meeting, ratified the agreement on social security between Moldova and Belarus, signed in Minsk, Belarus, on 23 October 2019.
The document was unveiled by Health, Labour and Social Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu to the parliament’s plenum and regulates the right to pensions of the citizens who are residents and work in Belarus and Moldova. The payment of the social benefits and insurances will be made in accordance with the legislation of the country on the territory of which the citizen works, no matter the residence place, taking into account the principle of proportionality.
The document also sees that pensions will be calculated and paid for the periods of labour on the territory of the concerned states after 31 December 1991. As for the periods of work till 31 December 1991, on the territory of the former USSR, including the Soviet Belarusian and Moldovan Republics, the pension will be established and paid by the state on the territory of which the citizen lives at the moment of requesting the pension, in the national currency of this state.
