Moldovan president has phone conversartion with Italian counterpart

Chisinau, 29 July /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today had a phone conversation with President of Italy Sergio Mattarella. The officials discussed a string of issues on the development and deepening of the Moldovan-Italian relations in all sectors of common interest, the presidential press service has reported.
The interlocutors found out, with regret that the COVID-19 pandemic had ceased the previous exchanges between the two countries, including in terms of free movement of people. In the context, Igor Dodon made a request to President Mattarella to allow the entry of Moldova’s citizens in Italy, on condition that they present certificates of testing for COVID-19 and carry out repeated testing immediately after they enter Italy, if necessary.
In another context, the Moldovan president appreciated Italy’s support for the promotion of the reforms’ agenda of Moldova, including as regards the country’s European integration.
The head of state welcomed the fact that about 1,400 enterprises with Italian capital were recorded in Moldova and the investments in the registered share capital amount to about 1.8 billion lei. Thus, Italy ranks second in terms of the number of enterprises with foreign capital in Moldova. In 2019, Italy was on the fourth position in the world among Moldova’s main trade partners, with a share of 7.8 per cent in the overall commerce.
