Chisinau, 6 August /MOLDPRES/- The regulation determining the way for compensation to mitigate the consequences of natural disasters on the 2020 harvest, approved by the government, will be published in the Official Journal on 7 August.

According to the government decision, the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, through the Agency for Intervention and Payments for Agriculture, will distribute one hundred million lei from the National Fund for Agriculture and Rural Development to provide compensation to diminish the consequences of natural disasters on 2020 harvest.

Despite a significant pandemic and economic crisis, to partially cover the damage caused by natural disasters, the government will earmark about 300 million lei to farmers.

In 2020, out of the 415 thousand hectares of cereal crops, about 200 thousand were affected by drought and other natural disasters of over 60%.
