Chisinau, 11 February /MOLDPRES/- 112 service received and processed 2,592,509 calls last year, and daily service operators receive at least 5,000 calls.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, last year it was possible to reduce the reaction time to the call, so about 72 percent of the requests were processed in the first five minutes of the call.
Another performance of the service is to reduce the number of non-emergency calls. In this context, in 2020 every second call entered the automated information system of the 112 Service was not an emergency. Compared to 2019, the flow of non-urgent calls decreased by about 9%. The optimization of the indicators was possible due to the capacity building element of the 112 Service and following the increased responsibility of the citizens who call the emergency number.
The 112 service was set up in 1991 in the European Union, and in 2018 it became operational in Moldova. Today, citizens can call police, fire service and ambulance at 112.
