Over 13 per cent of Moldova's residents immunized against Covid-19

Chisinau, 6 July /MOLDPRES/ - The health sector authorities urge the residents to go to be vaccinated on 11 July after the voting. They noted that all points of vaccination against COVID-19 from Moldova would work in extended regime on 11 July during 7:00-21:00.   

At a today’s news conference, the state secretary at the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS), Denis Cernelea, informed that the institution he represented was in permanent discussions with the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), to make sure that the safety measures would be observed at the parliamentary elections. ‘’To this end, MSMPS provided the needed quantity of disinfectant solution and protection equipment. On the day of the ballot, all vaccination points from Moldova will work; thus, we urge people to go to be vaccinated. Also, actions of informing the population about the preventing of the COVID-19 infection and the benefits of the vaccination will be held at all polling stations.’’ Cernelea said.    

He noted that 13.5 per cent of all Moldova’s residents had been vaccinated, with an overall number of 746,463 doses administered.  Also, over 83.9 per cent of the medical employees have been vaccinated against COVID-19, which contributed to a 90-per cent decrease in the morbidity rate among them. As many as 1,431 adverse reactions have been reported till present, of which 93.2 per cent with light forms and 6.8 per cent with moderate ones.  

At the same news conference, the head of the National Committee of Experts in Immunization, Ninel Revenco, said that one fourth of the world’s population had been vaccinated against Covid-19 so far. ‘’Many countries toughen the public health measures because of the new Delta variant, which is much more contagious and trigger serious forms of disease. Our urge is for us to go to be immunized with the vaccines available in Moldova, which protect us from all variants of the virus,’’ Revenco specified.   

To administer the vaccine, people may appeal to family physician or can schedule for vaccination through the platform www.vaccinare.gov.md.   

The immunization campaign started in Moldova on 2 March 2021.
