Decision on joining EUROCARIS European Treaty published in Official Journal of Moldova

Chisinau, 20 August /MOLDPRES/ - The 20 August Official Journal has published the Government Decision on the approval of the draft law on Moldova’s joining the European CAR and Driving Licence Information System (EUCARIS), signed on 29 June 2000.  

Under the draft, the government will undertake the measures necessary for the carrying pout of the aforementioned Treaty’s provisions.

Moldova will nominate the National Centre for Personal Data Protection as national authority in charge of the control of the observance of the norms of protection of personal data, provided for based on the aforementioned Treaty.   

Also, Moldova will nominate the Public Services Agency as national authority of registration, competent with the management of the central data banks as regards the vehicles and driver’s licences necessary for the European Car and Driving License Information System.  

The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry will ensure the delivering of the instruments of adhesion to the depositary.  

EUCARIS is an information exchange system that provides an infrastructure and software to countries to share, among others, their car- and driving licence-registration information, helping fight car theft and registration-fraud.
