Moldovan sociologist turns 60

Chisinau, 31 August /MOLDPRES/ - The president of the Association of Sociologists and Demographers of Moldova, PhD in sociology, lecturer, researcher, director of the Centre of Sociology and Social Psychology, holder of the Order of Honour Victor Mocanu turned 60 years today.
Victor Mocanu was born in the Carpineni village, central Hancesti district, in 1961. In 1983, he graduated from the Industrial and Civil Constructions Faculty of the Moldovan Technical University (UTM). In 1992, Mocanu maintained the thesis of doctor in sociology with the subject, The social factors of the improvement of the human potential of constructors in the rural environment, at the Sociology Institute of the National Academy of Sciences from Ukraine. In 1998, he was awarded the scientific title of lecturer researcher.
Starting from 2015, Mocanu has been director of the Centre of Sociology and Social Psychology. He published 120 scientific works, of which 15 monographs and collections. In 2001, he was elected president of the Association of Sociologists and Demographers from Moldova.
He was expert of the National Council for Accreditation and Attestation (2012-2018). Mocanu is member of the International Informatization Academy under the United Nations, honorary member of the National Council of the Romanian Association of Sociology.
Victor Mocanu participated in the working out and implementation of over 30 scientific and innovating projects in Moldova and abroad, including the World Bank’s project Drinking Water Quality and Energy II, etc.
Victor Mocanu was awarded the jubilee academic medal, &0 Years of Moldova’s Academy of Sciences (2016), Order of Honour (2018), academic medal Nicolae Milescu Spataru (2021) for prodigious work in the research sector.
