New head of European Union Delegation to Moldova on way to Chisinau

Chisinau, 2 September /MOLDPRES/- New head of the European Union Delegation to Moldova, Latvian diplomat Jānis Mažeiks has announced he is on his way to Chisinau to take over new position.
The official noted on social networks that he is joining the European Union Delegation to Moldova and that he is looking forward to the "busy and interesting period in Moldova".
Recently, former head of the European Union Delegation to Moldova Peter Michalko ended his term in Chisinau and went to Baku as head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan.
According to public information, Jānis Mažeiks has a degree in political science of the University of Latvia and a master's degree in human rights and democratization of the University of Padua, Italy.
Jānis Mažeiks was an adviser to the Latvian President on foreign policy. He began his diplomatic career in 1995. He was Permanent Representative of Latvia to the Council of Europe, then Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Latvia to the UN in Geneva, and then Permanent Representative of Latvia to the UN in New York.
