Well-known Moldovan light, folk music singer marks 70th birthday anniversary

Chisinau, 24 September /MOLDPRES/ - A well-known light and folk music singer, People’s Artist Nina Crulicovschi marks her 70th birthday anniversary today.
Nina Crulicovschi was born in the Shumikha village, Kurgan region of Russia, to deported parents on 24 September 1951. She returned to Chisinau along with her father at the age of seven. Crulicovschi started to gradually study her mother tongue, as she knew only the Russian and Tartar languages. She studied at the musical school from Slobozia and sang at a local ensemble of folk and light music. During 1968-1972, Crulicovschi studied at the Chisinau-based musical secondary school Stefan Neaga.
During her student days, she started singing folk music at the Martisor Ensemble and was quite successful. Crulicovschi gave concerts in Finland, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia.
According to the National Calendar, during 1973-89, she acted as soloist in more musical bands: Fluieras Folk Music Orchestra, Lautarii (Fiddlers) Folk Music Orchestra, light music bands Orizont, Bucuria and Contemporanul (Noroc) of the National Philharmonic. Meanwhile, she started her solo career. In 1981, she participated in the Daybreak of Crimea festival from Yalta and got the prize III.
In June 1983, the singer’s father was arrested for political reasons and charged with anti-communist propaganda. Crulicovschi was officially banned as artist during seven years. She suffered from starvation in the full sense of the word. Starting from 1989, she was reestablished to office at the National Philharmonic and a fruitful period full of tours and supporters followed. She gave concerts in more countries with the Noroc band, among which Tunisia and the USA. During 15 years, Crulicovschi worked as light music soloist on the stage of the Variety Theatre from Pitesti, Romania.
Nina Crulicovschi cooperated with more well-known poets and composers from Moldova. She was laureate of the Golden Chrysanthemum festival from Romania (prize III). In 1993, Crulicovschi was awarded the honorific title of master in art from Moldova and in 2010 – the one of People’s Artist.
