Chisinau, 28 September /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita today met European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson. The officials touched upon the latest developments in this sector, the EU’s role in the development of the energy sector in Moldova, as well as possibilities to finish the projects underway with the neighbour countries and which can represent an alternative in Moldova’s supply with gas and electricity, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
PM Gavrilita said that the energy security, just as the energy efficiency, was a priority in the dialogue with EU. Moreover, they are included in the Association Agenda for the period 2021-2027.
„We hope that, in the next years, substantial progress will be made both in terms of adjusting our policies to the European standards and the implementation of concrete energy security projects. Yet, to make progress and develop in this field, Moldova needs support, consultancy and the experience of the development partners,’’ the prime minister noted.
For her part, Commissioner Simson expressed openness for high-level dialogue in the energy field and confirmed the government’s backing in the implementation of the reforms in the energy sector.
