Moldovans who worked in Estonia to be able to benefit from pension of this state

Chisinau, 30 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovans who temporarily worked in Estonia, when reaching the retirement age, will be able to benefit from pension of this state. At the same time, during the period of work, they will benefit from social insurance, if risks come about, such as, for instance, the loss of the provider, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

In this respect, the government, at a today’s meeting, approved a draft law on the ratification of the protocol on the amendment of the agreement in the social insurances sector between Moldova and Estonia, signed on 2 October 2020.

The initiative on amending the agreements belongs to the Estonian side and is conditioned by the launch of the national reform on the establishment of the capacity for work in Estonia. The reform sees the replacement of the pension for incapacity for work with the allocation for incapacity for work, which is no longer part of the Estonian state social insurances system.

Nevertheless, for a certain period, the protocol envisages the providing, in continuation, of the pension for incapacity for work to the people who settled in Moldova till the expiration of the established term of the incapacity for work or, as case may be, till reaching the retirement age according to Estonia’s legislation.

The protocol’s enforcement does not imply spending from the state budget. Under the agreement, decision-makers establish the social insurances pensions provided for in the Law No 156/1998 on the public system of pensions, which are paid from the means of the state social insurances budget.
