Moldovan electoral body unveils preliminary results of runoff elections

Chisinau, 6 Dec. / MOLDPRES /- Preliminary results show that three independent candidates and two representatives of the Action and Solidarity Party have won the second round of the new local elections held yesterday in five rural localities.
The central electoral authority announced that the hierarchically lower electoral bodies have completed the counting process and presented the preliminary results of the second round of the new local elections for mayor in 5 localities in the country.
Thus, in Opaci village, Causeni district, the independent candidate Roman Pinteac accumulated 544 votes and is on the first place in front of his competitor; in Hârtop commune, Cimișlia district, the independent candidate Vitalie Caraja accumulated 399 votes and is on the first place; in the town of Cupcini, Edineț district, the independent candidate Ludmila Magu accumulated 1,162 votes and is in first place; in Bălceana village, Hâncești district, Aurelia Temciuc, the candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party, accumulated 302 votes and is on the first place and in Cneazevca commune from Leova district the candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party, Larisa Tomșa accumulated 216 votes and is on the first place.
The Central Electoral Commission reminds that, according to the electoral legislation, in the second ballot, the candidate who obtained the highest number of votes is considered elected, regardless of the number of voters who participated in the elections.
