Chisinau, 15 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) today voted with 38 votes for a 3.8-per cent increase in the local taxes in 2022, with the figure representing the inflation rate in 2020.
According to representatives of the Chisinau city hall, the increase in the local taxes was reasoned by the growth of the inflation rate in 2021. ‘’Most experts of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), with whom the local public authority cooperated to elaborate the new taxes, stressed that, in the context of the increase of the inflation in Moldova, the local taxes must be adjusted to the inflation rate existing in 2020,’’ the head of the finances general department of the Chisinau city hall, Olesea Psenitchi, said.
At the same time, Psenitchi stressed that this increase had been consulted with the business environment from the Chisinau municipality. ‘’The fiscal burden for the enterprises from the HoReCa sector will be reduced by a half, if the Chisinau city enters the red code of alert in health,’’ the official noted.
At present, the inflation rate is over 12 per cent. Fiscal experts estimated that the inflation would exceed 14 per cent in 2022.
