National Library for Children Ion Creanga organized project on children's rights

Chisinau, Dec. 16 / MOLDPRES /- More than 100 children took part in All Different, All Equal project, organized by the Ion Creanga National Children's Library, which took place in November- December.

Institution's director Eugenia Bejan said that the project aimed to contribute to the formation of an open attitude towards diversity, understanding and acceptance of differences and encouraging children aged 7-10 to advocate for tolerance, diversity and equal rights. In the first stage of the project, over a hundred children aged 7 to 10, from various localities of the Republic of Moldova, participated in a series of workshops on diversity.

The second stage of the project consisted in the realization by the participating children of the audio messages with the theme "What does diversity mean to me". The audio messages were free-form and expressed children's opinions about what they understood to be "all different, all equal" and how to be tolerant and empathetic with others. The audio messages were included in a series of 20 podcasts published on the Zuper.md children's platform. And during the event, these podcasts were launched in which the participating children send messages to the whole world about tolerance, diversity and equal rights.

"The children talked to a psychologist about the characteristics that make us different, about the cases when some children are still discriminated against or treated improperly, about how important it is to accept diversity, to be tolerant and benevolent with others and of course about equal rights. which we all have, especially the children ", said Eugenia Bejan.

In this context, William Massolin, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau, congratulated the children and their parents on their active participation and said that the Council of Europe promotes and protects the rights of 150 million children in Europe, based on the European Convention on Human Rights and other legal documents. "We believe that all children have the right to be treated equally and equitably. Children have the right to be heard and to have a say in all decisions that affect them: at home, in the community, at school, anywhere, "said William Massolin.

The project was organized by the National Children's Library Ion Creanga, Zuper.md (a multimedia site of Teleradio Moldova Company friendly to children), Teleradio-Moldova Company and IBBY National Section, with the support of the Office Council of Europe in Chisinau.
