Moldova's delegations asks Joint Control Commission to take attitude towards illegal presence of so-called ''border guards'' in Security Zone

Chisinau, 16 December /MOLDPRES/ - The members of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) have convened at an ordinary meeting in Bender. The event was focused on an incident from 2 December this year, when two vehicles of the ‘’border guards’’’ forces were fixed nearby the Cocieri settlement, a territory controlled by the constitutional authorities, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.      

In the context, Moldova’s delegation presented a written call to all JCC components with an urge to include the important subjects in the agenda. The first topic regards the so-called ‘’border guards’’ in the Security Zone and the second one implies the elaboration of an efficient mechanism of monitoring the situation in the Security Zone, if it is worsening.    

Moldova’s delegation believes that the ‘’border guards’’’ forces represent the structure which obviously neglects the acts approved by JCC, based on the Moldovan-Russian ceasefire agreement from 21 July 1992 and which, through its actions, jeopardizes the free movement in the perimeter of responsibility of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, as well as triggers infringements of the fundamental rights and freedoms of citizens.  

The long-lasting discussions did not result in the inclusion of these subjects in the official agenda of the meeting, with Tiraspol representatives blocking again the objective consideration and the taking of pertinent decisions on up-to-date aspects.  

Thus, the Joint Control Commission managed to approve the report of the Joint Military Command on the situation in the Security Zone, found out on the period 8-14 December 2021.  

Also, at a request by Ukraine’s representatives, for reasons of the mandate’s expiration, nine out of ten military observers, delegated by this country to the group of military observers of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, were replaced.
