EU, World Health Organization donate 100 non-invasive ventilation equipment units to more hospitals of Moldova

Chisinau, 16 December /MOLDPRES/ - The hospitals from Moldova will be endowed with 100 BiPAPs – respiratory apparatus indispensable for the treatment of the respiratory insufficiency and diseases. The equipment was bought with the financial support of the European Union and the technical assistance of the World Health Organization (WHO).
According to the Health Ministry, the equipment costs 444,000 euros and is meant to contribute to the strengthening of the national capacities of fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
BiPAPs are non-invasive ventilation devices, which provide the supply of oxygen to patients through a face mark and, therefore, remove the need of intubation. The BiPAPs help reduce the respiration activity and improve the gas exchange. The apparatus is used to take care of patients with chronic respiratory diseases and the ones sick with COVID-19. The BiPAPs will be distributed to the hospitals from Moldova, according to the Health Ministry’s distribution list.
The assistance is part of the EU and WHO project, EU4Moldova: for a sustainable health system. The project’s general goal is to attenuate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Moldova and strengthen the national health care system for a long period.
