ANTA official detained while receiving over 10,000 lei bribe

Chisinau, 17 Dec. / MOLDPRES /- An official from the National Transport Agency / ANTA / arrived in the CNA detention center, after the anti-corruption officers and prosecutors caught him with bribe.

According to CNA data, the man is under criminal investigation in a case on passive corruption.

The inspector allegedly requested and received 10,500 lei from a driver stopped in traffic in order not to document him because he was transporting goods in the absence of the driver's certificate of competence. The arrest in flagrante delicto took place in the parking lot of a store in the capital. Following the searches, the money was found in the back seat of the suspect's car.

If found guilty, the official risks up to 7 years in prison, with deprivation of the right to hold office for a term of 5 to 10 years.
