Chisinau, 17 Dec. / MOLDPRES /- The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Moldova (FAO) has launched a series of agro-podcasts for farmers in the Republic of Moldova. They focus on current issues in the agri-food sector, including development opportunities, modernization of production processes, efficient business planning, precision agriculture, and how consumer behavior has changed in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The podcasts launched by FAO aim to facilitate the access of farmers and all those interested in local agriculture to knowledge and information, have a duration of up to 15 minutes, are accessible in language and can be heard at any time and space convenient to listeners. Agro-podcasts also contain conversations with entrepreneurs or experts. The first interview, from the podcast series, tells the story of a returned migrant who managed to start a successful home business. Podcasts are available for listening on the official FAO channel on SoundCloud - UNFAO.
"More and more farmers are interested in trends and technologies that make it easier to work in the agricultural sector. In this sense, podcasts, which can be listened to online at a convenient time, are another way to share information about innovative technologies and the future of agriculture, "he said.
Jana Midoni, coordinator of the FAO Moldova project.
For his part, FAO Deputy Representative in Moldova Tudor Robu stressed that the FAO, both globally and locally, places great emphasis on innovation. "Podcasts have become very popular in recent years. On the one hand, they help us to detach ourselves from everyday life, on the other hand, it is a fantastic way to learn something new, to improve our knowledge on a certain subject. We at FAO want the research we do and the data we have in the field of agriculture to be as accessible as possible and to be presented as
captivating, ”said Tudor Robu.
The series of podcasts is developed within the FAO Moldova project Multidisciplinary Fund for the Promotion of Decent Employment and Socio-Economic Integration of Migrants Returning to Rural Areas in the Context of COVID-19. The project is being implemented between May and December 2021 and aims to facilitate small farmers' access to markets through online platforms.
