EU Delegation in Moldova launches Discover Team Europe campaign

Chisinau, 17 December /MOLDPRES/ - The European Union’s Delegation in Chisinau today launched a communication campaign titled, Discover Team Europe, and presented new projects and initiatives due to be carried out in Moldova. The campaign will cover the assistance provided by EU, its member states and its financial institutions for Moldova’s citizens.
According to Head of the EU Delegation in Moldova Jānis Mazeiks, the Discover Team Europe Campaign has the goal to give people possibility to better know what the team Europe initiative is, how it works and what it does for the benefit of Moldova’s citizens.
“Team Europe has mobilized its resources, in order to provide quick and impact support to Moldova’s citizens. In the last two years, EU and its member states have remained close to the citizens of this country. With support provided by Team Europe, Moldova has the needed instruments to consolidate its resistance on this difficult period, as well as to be able to overcome the long-term consequences. We invite you to know well the EU member states and their ambassadors, to learn more about the goals of the Team Europe initiative, which backs the partner countries,’’ the EU Ambassador said at the event.
Attending the ceremony, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita said that Moldova had felt the concrete assistance provided by the European Union, which offered support and assistance to Moldova’s citizens on the period of the COVID-19 pandemic, including long-term support for the country’s economic recovery.
„Team Europe means solidarity and unity, as well as concrete assistance on the period of the pandemic, which will be extended subsequently as well. Along with the citizens of Moldova, we felt that we are members of the team, that we can develop, modernize and edify a strong European state,’’ the Moldovan PM said.
Also today, the European Union’s Delegation informed about the launch of three projects in Moldova, worth 36 million euros, which will be implemented through the development agencies of more member states. The new programmes provide for support for communities, support to enhance the transparency, responsibility and access to the judiciary sector, as well as backing for the local media institutions. Also, EU informed about the carrying out two new initiatives due to support the energy sector and the business environment in Moldova.
The Team Europe initiative was born in extraordinary conditions, created by the COVID-19 pandemic in 20202, as united European response to the major needs emerged in the partner countries. Team Europe combines the collective development resources of EU, its member states, including of its financial institutions and of the implementation agencies: European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
So far, Team Europe has provided Moldova with 127 million euros in mobilized grants, using combination of existing and new funds, in order to provide concrete support to citizens in pandemic; one million doses of vaccines delivered on the COVAX Platform or through donations of the EU member states; a programme of emergency macro-financial assistance in connection with COVID-19 worth 100 million euros as loans on easy terms. Also, the member states supplied individual protection equipment, medical equipment for saving lives, other consumables, bilaterally, or through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
