Chisinau, 17 December /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu has had a meeting with Romania’s Energy Minister Virgil Popescu in Bucharest.

„We discussed the capacities of use of the Iasi-Chisinau gas pipeline, which has been already functional as of 4 October 2021, as well as about opportunities of cooperation in the Black Sea area, as alternatives for the supply with natural gas in the region. We referred also to the development of the natural gas transport infrastructure of the Vestmoldtransgaz operator,’’ the official noted.

Andrei Spinu also said that the Moldovan delegation had been informed about the starting of the feasibility studies at several constructions. It is about the building of the natural gas transport network DN 500 on the Ungheni-Balti segment, with connection to the network from north Moldova , Ananiev-Chernivtsi-Bogorodiceni; construction of the gas compression station placed in the Ungheni district. The period of implementation is 2025-2026 for both projects.

„As for the asynchronous interconnection Isaccea-Vulcanesti-Chisinau, with back-to-back station in Vulcanesti, we are at the stage of holding the tender for carrying out the works. The Romanian side is to improve the protections at the Isaccea station and to set optic fibre on the power line of 400 KV Isaccea-Vulcanesti and to modernize a string of elements in power station from the Isaccea station up to the border. We were also informed that the Gadalin-Suceava power line project on the side of Romania (line needed for connecting with the segment beyond the Prut river Suceava-Balti) is included by Transelectrica in the list of strategic projects, due to be implemented quickly,’’ the deputy PM said.

At the same time, the infrastructure minister informed that he had also tackled the energy efficiency segment, where ‘’we considered possibilities of backing projects for the benefit of the local authorities from Moldova, through certain programmes from Romania, which might provide grants to our state.’’

Deputy Prime Minister, Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu is on a working visit to Romania on 16-17 December. The official is accompanied in Bucharest by the state secretaries for the regional development and energy sectors, Ana Mardare and Constantin Borosan.
