Runoff ections held in Bălți today

Chisinau, 19 Dec. / MOLDPRES /- Balti voters will elect their mayor today in the second round of the new local elections.
Voters have a choice between independent candidate Nicolai Grigorișin and candidate of Patriots of Moldova Political Party Nicolae Chirilciuc.
The Central Electoral Commission announced that 102 105 ballot papers were printed for the second round of the new local elections, of which 51,988 in Romanian and 50,117 in Russian.
Polling stations will be open from 07:00 to 21:00. The right to vote is exercised under conditions similar to the first ballot, based on the same electoral lists. Voters will show up at polling stations with their home pen, protective mask and ID card.
Accredited observers for monitoring the new local elections on November 21 are also eligible to run in the second round.
The second round of the new local elections in Balti, which was supposed to take place on December 5, was suspended after the court, at the request of the Central Electoral Commission, ordered the cancellation of the registration of electoral contestant Marina Tauber, designated by the Shor Political Party, on the grounds of the use in the campaign of the undeclared financial means.
The second round, set for December 19, is the second and fifth best ranked candidates after the first round, as the third and fourth place candidates withdrew from the race.
