National Carpet Fair took place in Chisinau

Chisinau, 19 Dec. / MOLDPRES /- The 8th edition of the Carpet of Longing National Carpet Fair took place yesterday at the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History. The event was organized in the context of the registration, on 1 December 2016, of the file Traditional techniques for making bark in the Republic of Moldova and Romania in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Director of the institution Petru Vicol said that the purpose of the Fair is to use the traditional carpet, to know the basic motifs and symbols of the carpets, as well as the significance of the carpet in the context of the Moldovan wedding.
The event was attended by Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan, ex-Minister of Culture Monica Babuc, the initiator of the National Carpet Fair The Carpet of Longing, the first edition of which had in 2014, people of culture and art.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture in partnership with the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, Rustic Art Crafts Complex, with the support of ANTRIM, with the support of the Activity for Supporting Competitiveness in Light Industry and Tourism (MCTA), an EGDE project (Buy-in) funded by USAID.
