Audit mission assessed performance of management of plant protection products, fertilizers

Chisinau, Dec. 20 / MOLDPRES /- An audit mission recently assessed the performance of the management of phytosanitary products and fertilizers (PUFF) in our country, in order to ensure the safety of plant-based food products, in accordance with the European Acquis.

The purpose of the audit was to ascertain whether the responsible authorities are carrying out appropriate activities to ensure the efficient use of plant protection products and fertilizers, so as to ensure the safety and high quality of food of plant origin.

"The public auditors collected data and information to formulate audit conclusions in order to assess the mechanisms of operation, the legislative instruments used, the resources allocated to the activities carried out in the field, regarding the sustainable management of plant protection products", according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA).

The experts formulated conclusions and recommendations for a better implementation of the management system of phytosanitary products and fertilizers and for ensuring a high level of consumer health protection.
