Exhibition of origami inaugurated at national History Museum of Moldova

Chisinau, 20 December /MOLDPRES/ - The National History Museum of Moldova, in partnership with the Origami Moldova Association, inaugurated an exhibition titled, Origami - a magical world…, today.     

In the beginning of the event, the aforementioned museum’s director, Eugen Sava, said that the association during 15 years had been working under the patronage of the National History Museum. ‘’Together, we have managed to organize success exhibitions and cultural and educational events for the wide public, the goal of which was to popularize origami as a way of stimulating the creative potential of children.’’ Today, we present you works made by adult members of the association, for whom origami is a therapy through art and a proof that this ancient Japanese technique knows no limits of age or social status.    

Attending the event, Ambassador of Japan to Moldova Yoshihiro Katayama said that origami was a traditional culture of Japan. ‘’This is an art practiced internationally. I noticed many nice works here. Yet, I have never seen such a work, as the one placed in the centre of the exhibition (The Saint Basil the Blessed Cathedral from Moscow). I am sure that what the association members carry out during the pandemic is simply wonderful,’’ Yoshihiro Katayama said.  

According to the director of the Origami Moldova Association, Lilia Socolova, the works exhibited are made in classical style, being of medium, high and quite high complexity. One of them, (author Valeriu Ustovschi) represents the Saint Basil the Blessed Cathedral from Moscow, which, due to the fact that it is made out of 50,700 modules, was registered in the list of the National Agency of Records.   

The exhibition will be open till 15 January 2022.
