Chisinau, Dec. 22 / MOLDPRES /- From 27 December, new measures will be applied to prevent and control COVID-19 infection when crossing the state border on the way to enter the Republic of Moldova, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

Thus, people who come to our country and have been in the last 14 days in one or more countries in the red zone (including in transit), will be required to present the negative result of the PCR COVID-19 test. The test must be performed no later than 72 hours before boarding, in the case of persons traveling by public transport, or before entering the territory of Moldova, in the case of those traveling by their own means of transport. The test will need to be performed by both unvaccinated and vaccinated individuals. The list of states in the red zone will be drawn up by the Ministry of Health starting with December 24 and updated every seven days. The decision was taken at yesterday's meeting of the National Commission for Extraordinary Public Health (CNESP), chaired by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița.

According to the CNESP Decision, citizens who have not visited the countries in the red zone will be able to enter the Republic of Moldova without restrictions with the presentation of one of the following documents: vaccination certificate, PCR or rapid negative test or confirmatory medical conclusion in the case of COVID-19. Those who do not have the respective documents will be obliged to observe the isolation regime for a period of 14 days.

CNESP also decided that, starting with December 23, the access to the Chisinau International Airport will be allowed to the companions, who will present the COVID-19 certificate.

The decision adopted by CNESP also stipulates that access to private events, organized between December 23, 2021 - January 15, 2022, for a number of 25 or more persons, will be allowed only based on the presentation of the COVID-19 certificate.

Also, to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection, CNESP has adopted rules for visitors and traders attending Christmas fairs across the country. Thus, for the safety of visitors, it will be mandatory to wear a protective mask during the entire period of the fair (except for children up to 12 years), and staff and traders who will participate in these events must have a COVID-19 certificate. At the same time, drinks and food should be consumed only in specially designed places. The obligation to respect the physical distance of at least 1 meter between persons remains in force.
