Lilian Darii to be new ambassador of Moldova to Russia

Chisinau, 22 December /MOLDPRES/ - The candidacy of Lilian Darii today was approved by the parliament’s commission for foreign policy and European integration for the office of ambassador to Russia.
Lilian Darii is a career diplomat. He graduated from the International Relations Faculty and made doctoral studies at the Philosophy, Sociology and Law Institute of Moldova’s Academy of Sciences (ASM). In 2018, he was appointed ambassador to Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, as well as head of Moldova’s Mission at the NATO.
During 2017-2018, he was ambassador-at-large at the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE). In 2016-2017, Darii acted as deputy minister at MAEIE.
Under the legislation, the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors, permanent representatives, envoys and charge d’affaires en titre (permanent) – head of diplomatic missions – are appointed and recalled from office by Moldova’s President, at a proposal by the government. The proposals on the appointment to these positions are submitted to the government by the foreign affairs and European integration minister, with the consultation of the parliament’s commission for foreign policy and European integration.
