Chisinau, January 3 / MOLDPRES /- Only 254 coronavirus patients are hospitalized in municipal hospitals in Chisinau, but authorities say a new wave will be in late January.
The head of the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Health, Boris Gâlcă, said at today's online meeting that 254 patients confirmed with COVID-19 are hospitalized in the municipal hospital institutions, of which "18 people are in very good condition being admitted to the intensive care unit ". "Statistically, the number of coronavirus diseases is low. At home, under the supervision of family doctors, a number of 851 patients are treated," said Gâlcă.
At the same time, in the conditions in which many Moldovan citizens have returned to the country, the spread of the Omicron variant is probable.
He pointed out that in order to cope with a possible new wave of diseases, Chisinau City Hall has kept a sufficient number of treatment beds for coronavirus in municipal hospitals.
