Estonia's experience in using electronic voting presented at Moldovan electoral body

Chisinau, 28 January /MOLDPRES/- Members of the interinstitutional working group on concept and action plan on digitizing electoral process and piloting electronic voting as an alternative voting method discussed the good practices of other states and recommendations in this area.
A study was presented at the meeting, which revealed Estonia's experience in using electronic voting. The experts referred in particular to the main procedure and stages in the voting process, which are the competencies and tasks distributed to the actors involved in the organization of the elections, the main elements of e-government and digital solutions used. The security of the electoral process through electronic voting has been a topic of great interest to members of the working group.
In this context, the Central Electoral Commission representatives gave a presentation on the digital systems already implemented within the Commission and how they are connected to government systems. Also, they presented the previously set technical concept that can serve as a basis for a specification for the development of the Internet voting system.
At the next meeting of the working group, due next week, the first stage of the implementation of the internet voting process will be analyzed, namely the identification of the voter by digital means.
