The song, Trenuleţul (The Small Train) gained the largest number of points on behalf of the specialty jury, following the live hearings, broadcast live at the Moldova 2 TV station and on the website www.trm.md. on 29 January evening.
According to the organizers, the folklore of the Advahov Brothers and the rock’n roll of the Zdob şi Zdub band are harmoniously combining in the new song, The Small Train, which will be the first song in the new album, due to be launched this year.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, a member of the Organization Committee, Vitalie Cojocaru, said that the Committee, given the epidemiological situation in Moldova and significant increase in the number of COVID-19 infections, found out the impossibility to organize the TV final stages. Thus, the Teleradio-Moldova Company Public Institution carried out only the stage of LIVE hearings, during which the jury decided the song due to represent Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.
”The pandemic created for us difficult conditions for holding the contest. And the number of participants was small too. Thus, unlike the previous years, only 50 participation applications were submitted to the national stage of Eurovision 2022, of which only 29 ones on behalf of Moldova. The jury took into account the winning song’s originality, the vocal capacities and the charisma of the singing. The Zdob şi Zdub band and the Advahov Brothers got 58 points and won the contest, but not so clearly. Ana Cernicova, with the song, Silent Battlefield, ranked second with 57 points. The band Lemonique, with the song, Boys, was on the third position,’’ Vitalie Cojocaru said.
Twenty eight competitors sang at the final stage.
The 66th issue of the Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Turin, Italy, on 10-14 May.
