More patients in Moldovan capital's children's hospitals than treatment capacity

Chisinau, 31 January /MOLDRES/- So far, 12,000 people have been tested in the 16 COVID-19 test points installed in Chisinau.

The head of the General Directorate of Health and Social Assistance, Boris Gîlcă, declared in today's online meeting of the mayor's office services that in a week of activity of the COVID-19 test points in the municipality, more than 12 thousand people were tested, of which about 3,000 were positive.

According to the official, the 16 test points installed by the mayor's office in collaboration with the General Inspectorate for Emergencies will be activated for another week, but their operation could be extended depending on the evolution of the pandemic situation.

At the same time, in the municipal hospitals specialized for the treatment of children are hospitalized twice as many children as the capacity of the institutions. "The V. Ignatenco Hospital and the Hospital for Contagious Diseases for Children have become the largest pediatric medical institutions dedicated to the treatment of COVID in the Republic of Moldova", Gîlcă said.
