Moldovan Deputy PM discusses with national associative environment in agro-food sector

Chisinau, 31 January /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has received representatives of the national associative environment from the agro-food sector: Moldova-Fruct Association of Fruits Producers and Exporters, National Association of Bread-making and Miller’s Trade Industries, Employers’ Association of Poultry Farmers, Employers’ of the Meat Processing Industry Enterprises, National Association of Milk and Dairy Goods Producers and the Sandriliona ice-cream producing company.
According to the press service of the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE), the meeting fits into the 4D agenda (European Development. Dialogue. Diaspora and Economic Diplomacy) of the concrete deeds’ diplomacy.
„I stressed that the economic diplomacy is one of the central goals on the agenda of our foreign policy in 2022; in this respect, our efforts are to be oriented to strengthen the MAEIE’s institutional capacities, boosting the communication with the economic agents, especially on the dimension of promoting exports of goods made in Moldova – and attracting investments and promoting the tourism.’’ Deputy PM Nicu Popescu said.
Minister Nicu Popescu informed about the openness of the ministry’s team and of Moldova’s diplomatic missions from abroad to facilitate the access of Moldovan goods to external markets.
„It is quite important that the diplomatic service promotes the foreign trade and this given that the exports back the jobs at home, the increase in the production volumes and the investments in Moldova,’’ the Moldovan diplomacy head noted.
The interlocutors exchanged opinions on the principal problems faced by the associative environment from Moldova, including aspects dealing with the present hindrances and obstacles to the export of Moldovan products. Popescu invited the business environment’s representatives to inform the Foreign Affairs Ministry about their problems each time they need this.
An important subject of the meeting represented the ways of diversifying the range of products which can have access on the EU market, as well as the identification of new markets in Middle East and Asia, where there are opportunities and demand for qualitative agro-food products made in Moldova.
„In the context of my visits abroad and of the response visits by counterparts to Moldova, we will establish, in the nearest time, a mechanism of cooperation and preliminary consultation, in order to facilitate our exports abroad, identify new markets and attract foreign investments, including through a string of videoconferences between ambassadors and specialized associations,’’ Deputy PM Nicu Popescu said.
