Moldovan foreign affairs minister participates in event hosted by American think-tank German Marshall Fund

Chisinau, 31 January /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has participated, in videoconference format, in an event hosted by the American think-tank German Marshall Fund. The participants in the event discussed the progress made by the Moldovan authorities, in the context of the economic and security challenges in the region, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
Along with representatives of the authorities from the U.S. Congress, Department of State, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and various international non-governmental organizations, the Moldovan diplomacy head tackled subjects on the present energy crisis, security developments and their impact on the domestic and external processes, the progress of the reforms’ agenda in Moldova and the impact of COVID-19.
„I reiterated Moldova’s interest and commitment to the adhesion to the values of the democracy and the opportunities of support and concrete assistance on behalf of the USA and international development partners, in order to enhance the resilience and strengthen the Moldova’s efforts of consolidating the citizens’ security, raise the level of prosperity and advance in the country’s reformation,’’ Deputy PM Nicu Popescu said.
In the context of the 4D agenda of the concrete deeds’ diplomacy (European Development, Dialogue, Diaspora and Economic Diplomacy), Minister Nicu Popescu reiterated to the American side the willingness for boosting the activity of the working groups within the Strategic Dialogue with the United States.
