Moldovan, Croatian foreign ministers signed memorandum on diplomatic training

Chisinau, 1 Feb. / MOLDPRES /- Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration had a meeting today with his counterpart in Zagreb, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia, Gordan Grlić Radman. Officials signed a Memorandum of Understanding and held a press conference.
During the discussions at the level of national delegations, the Foreign Ministers addressed the ways to strengthen the Moldovan-Croatian bilateral relations, the European integration agenda of our country and the regional and international news.
According to Nicu Popescu, "Moldova has excellent relations with Croatia, which has been and always is with the people of our country, especially during the pandemic crisis."
"We will soon convene the Moldovan-Croatian Commission for European Integration, with a series of political consultations between our ministries. The situation in Moldova is and remains difficult, especially in the energy context, which is why we want to strengthen relations in the economic field and tourism development. We are also planning to set up a bilateral commission for economic cooperation, "he said.
For his part, Gordan Grlić Radman said that due to the restrictions caused by COVID-19, this visit is not accompanied by a delegation of Croatian businessmen, but later this meeting will be organized, either in Chisinau or in Zagreb.
"The Republic of Moldova has the full support of Croatia on the European integration path it has chosen. The symbolism of this visit is to show all the support and solidarity of both Croatia and the European Union for the ambitious agenda of the Chisinau Government in the fight against corruption and integration into the European family, "said the Croatian Foreign Minister.
Also on the occasion of the Croatian official's visit, a memorandum of understanding was signed today between the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and the Diplomatic Academy of the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
Gordan Grlić Radman pays a visit to Chisinau today at the invitation of Nicu Popescu. According to the program, the guest will meet with President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, and Economy Minister Sergiu Gaibu.
