Several schools in Moldova to be connected to high-speed internet in February

Chisinau, 1 Feb. / MOLDPRES /- First 30 schools in our country, which will be connected to high-speed internet under the Gigabit Internet for your school initiative have been selected. The institutions will have free internet access provided by a specialized company this February.

The schools were selected in a competition launched in December 2021 by the National Center for Digital Innovation in Education and StarNet, under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Research, in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Sweden.

At the same time, the technical possibility of connection for another 20 educational institutions participating in the competition is being evaluated.

The schools that benefit from the Internet are from urban areas in the northern, central and southern regions of the country. Over 18,000 students will benefit from high-speed internet access.

The Gigabit Internet for Your School project was launched in December 2021 and is a continuation of the Memorandum of Understanding Supporting Connectivity and the Use of Digital Technologies in Education signed by the Ministry of Education and Research, Competitiveness Project (later succeeded by Future Technologies Project), funded by USAID and Sweden, and by internet service providers in the country.
