229 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 hospitalized in children's hospitals in Chisinau

Chisinau, 3 Feb. / MOLDPRES /- 229 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in the two municipal children's hospitals.

The head of the General Directorate of Health and Social Assistance of the Chisinau Municipal Council, Boris Gâlcă, announced today on social networks that the pressure on municipal children's hospitals in the capital has decreased, last night 229 children sick with the new coronavirus were hospitalized.

According to the official, this does not mean a decrease in the pandemic wave, but the fact that several COVID-19 treatment units have been activated in the districts. "The daily numbers of new infections discourage the hope that we have reached the plateau, that is, at the height of the pandemic wave: we have about 5,000 new infections and daily re-infections only reported," said Gâlcă.

At the same time, he notes that due to the widespread contagion of the Omicron variant, the number of daily cases could be much higher - about 20 thousand.

He said that the Omicron version of COVID-19 is manifested by rhinorrhea, headache, exhaustion and fatigue, sore throat and symptoms of bronchitis, but no complex forms of the disease have been found to cause death.
