Chisinau, April 21 / MOLDPRES /- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration took note of the statement of the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation made during the 20 April briefing which maintains unconstructive and unacceptable rhetoric against the President of the Republic of Moldova, and historical events are used for propaganda purposes, the MAEIE press service has reported.
Given the unacceptable language used against the head of state by the official representative of the Russian diplomacy, the MAEIE ordered the summoning of Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Moldova Oleg Vasnetov.
We recommend that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation take note of the text of President Maia Sandu's speech, which is accessible in Russian and leaves no room for interpretation: “I want to especially emphasize: no one forbids celebrating the ninth of May. On the contrary: we must remember the victory of civilization over fascism and Nazism. We must honor the fallen and keep the memory of the main tragedy of the twentieth century - the World War II.”
We emphasize that the decisions recently adopted in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova represent a sovereign right of our country. We reiterate our call on the Russian side not to admit interference in a democratic, legitimate and internal process of our country.
