About 1,500 churches in Moldova inspected by firefighters

Chisinau, April 21 / MOLDPRES /- As of 7 April officers of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations / IGSU / have carried out fire protection assessment on 1,492 (90%) churches and 1,892 church persons have been trained in the field.
According to IGSU data, all churches in the country will be checked by the end of this week, and those responsible will receive fire recommendations.
Firefighters' recommendations relate to maintaining free access for emergency vehicles near places of worship, arranging special places for lighting candles, but also at a safe distance from combustible elements, equipping places of worship with means of first aid and visible marking of evacuation exits, in case of emergency.
The specialists also drew the attention of the people in charge to the location of the heating installations. They must be placed at a safe distance from combustible construction elements, decorations or furniture. Officials were urged to keep the evacuation doors open during religious services, and given the large number of believers, activities outside the churches were recommended.
At the same time, an urge was launched for the sanitation of households, but also of cemeteries, to be carried out without igniting household waste, but also dry vegetation.
To ensure fire safety and the safety regime in the Republic of Moldova, more than 600 IGSU employees with 200 technical units will operate daily.
