Emergency state extended by 60 days in Moldova

Chisinau, 21 April /MOLDPRES/ - The emergency state, established under the Parliament Decision 41/2022, has been extended by 60 days starting from 25 April. The decision was adopted with the votes of 55 MPs.  

Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita presented the request on the prolongation of the emergency state in the parliament’s plenum. The PM said that the adoption of this decision was necessary, so that the cabinet further has leverages and instruments able to allow taking quick and efficient decisions. These aspects regard the procedures of receiving humanitarian assistance, allocation of financial means or of simplification of more processes related to the management of the refugees’ crisis.   

Thus, on the period of the emergency state, Moldova’s Commission for Emergency Situations will issue instructions, in order to enforce more measures, among which the establishment of special regimes of entrance or exit from the country and of movement on the territory of Moldova. The Commission will also adopt decisions needed for the undertaking of quick actions of supply with energy sources. Moldova’s Commission for Emergency Situations will also be able to carry out actions needed for the protection of the critical infrastructure and for ensuring the cyber security, will take measures for the management of the migration flows and will be able to access and manage the international assistance.     

On the period of the emergency state, Moldova’s Commission for Emergency Situations will issue compulsory and executory instructions for the heads of the central and local public administration authorities, of economic agents and public institutions, as well as for the citizens and other people who stay in Moldova.
