Law-enforcers carry out criminal prosecution actions against Moldovan MP

Chisinau, 21 April /MOLDPRES/ -Anticorruption prosecutors, jointly with officers of the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA), today carry out searches in more locations as to an MP and his accomplices.

According to CNA’s press service, the criminal prosecution actions take place after the parliament permitted the lift of the lawmaker’s immunity, at a request by the acting Prosecutor General. The MP is prosecuted under the Criminal Code on a criminal file concerning the reasonable suspicion of money laundering in particularly large amounts.

According the file’s material, the criminal file was opened in August 2021, at a notification by the National Integrity Authority. The deeds investigated date back from 2011, when the MP was founder and manager of a limited company. This lawmaker, along with other people, would have compiled fictitious contracts with various private people worth 3.2 million lei.

Also, in November 2014, the company represented by the MP would have drawn up another alleged contract on loan with a private person, worth 376,700 lei. In continuation, on the period December 2014-october 2015, the lawmaker’s wife would have compiled 16 fictitious contracts on loan with various private people worth 4.7 million lei, in order to construct a commercial building in Chisinau.

Also on the period of the 2015 year, the MP, while acting based on the procedures issued on behalf of his wife, would have deposited in bank accounts of the economic agent a part of the aforementioned financial means, coming from fictitious loans.

Thus, within investigations and following the hearing of people who have provided loans, law-enforcers found out that the latter had not signed such contracts on loan, while the others, at the moment of the alleged loan, were not on the territory of Moldova. At the same time, they ascertained that the concerned people had not had enough legal incomes which would justify the loans provided.
