Awareness campaign on theft phenomenon in public transport launched in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, April 22 / MOLDPRES /- Local public authorities in the capital and police have launched a public awareness campaign with the slogan -Choose safety, thieves don't change their jobs!

Chisinau Municipality and the police urge the capital's residents to be vigilant during the Easter holidays, in the context of the increase in thefts of pockets in public transport. The call is part of the public awareness campaign launched by law enforcement on the eve of the holidays, when there is an increased flow of passengers on public transport.

Police warn that pickpockets operate in transport units when there is crowd.

According to law enforcement officials, pickpockets usually operate in groups to distract the victim, after which they steal valuables.

Since the beginning of the year, 207 thefts have been registered in Chisinau, compared to 91 crimes in 2021.
